After years of doing my own taxes, I decided it might be time to go to a pro.Our neighbors have used ASA Accounting and Tax Service and we decided to try it. That was a huge mistake.The office was so disorganized that it took the owner 40 minutes just to find our file when we went to review our return.Then when he did finally find it, there were so many errors that it couldn’t be filed.He made the corrections that evening, sent a revised copy the following morning, and then e-filed the return without our consent or authorization.It was still full of errors. His excuse was “I was busy and forgot to delete that deduction”. He manipulated the return to get us a higher refund and take a higher percentage of it for himself.Although he offered to refund the fee, he has since ignored all correspondence and kept the money.Meanwhile, I’ve been cleaning up the mess with the IRS and may well be facing an audit.Avoid this business. The owner is a crook and a liar. His mistakes will get you in trouble and he’ll take your money.
