Dr. Dorothy Dube – Legit or Scam?

I came across a critical review of Dr. Dorothy Dube on a Scam Reporting website – DirtyScam.com, titled ‘I Was Met With Two Of The Rudest’.

DirtyScam allows anonymous submission of complaints from angry consumers and victims of scams. Since the website is hosted offshore (probably in Russia or India), we take this (negative) review against Dr. Dorothy Dube with a pinch of salt.

I should have listened to the other reviewers before booking my annual exam with Dr. Dorothy Dube’s office.The billing practices at this office are verging on predatory.I’m covered by HealthNet PPO and was explicitly told multiple times (before and after my visit) that I would not be charged as it falls under preventative care.Lo and behold, I receive a $45 copay charge in the mail the very next month.Assuming a clerical error, I call her office to explain there was a billing mishap and to please invalidate the open invoice.I was met with two of the rudest and least helpful women in the healthcare industry claiming there was “nothing they could do” because Dr. Dube added two distinct billing codes to my 15 minute visit all because I made the mistake of mentioning symptoms of an illness which I didn’t even have and wasn’t treated for (I have the $50 LabCorp bill to prove that).This means that for that 15 minute check-up I was charged as if I had scheduled two separate office visits each with their own $45 copays, all because they chose to add two billing codes instead of one, and offload me onto LabCorp.Next time I’ll be SUPER careful not to mention any of my symptoms to doctors, due to the fear of being charged for simply uttering the words (I don’t think that’s the point of preventative healthcare, but if this is how the system works, buyer beware).

It is difficult to ascertain whether Dr. Dorothy Dube is a Scam, or Legit, based on this single review. In the coming weeks/days, I will try to research deeper into Dr. Dorothy Dube, analyze and list more critical reviews and identify a pattern (or lack of) to substantiate the claim mentioned above.
