NewChic – Legit or Scam?

I came across a critical review of NewChic on a Scam Reporting website – DirtyScam.com, titled ‘Newchic charges you more for shipping than for products’.

DirtyScam allows anonymous submission of complaints from angry consumers and victims of scams. Since the website is hosted offshore (probably in Russia or India), we take this (negative) review against NewChic with a pinch of salt.

I can still not believe that someone like me would fall for such an idiotic trap like this. And that too while doing online shopping. Something which I have been doing for quite a time now. I guess this is because of the problem of communication. Internet and all is good. They connect you currently in instant of the moment, to the persons whom you never thought, you’d be able to connect with again. It is that good. But then while communication style differs, so does the understanding style does. And you cannot expect the person who us reading your write up or email to understand your style of communication. The style of communication is always different.I went shopping for perfume, online. I had previously purchased it from other websites, which were much more familiar. But that’s the thing about online, it makes you think that everything is familiar. Because here you only are on to one thing and that is availability. As soon as you get to know product availability. All you want to do is, pay and buy. You hardly think about the after-sales process, which is huge. And I think that a lot of online business do not offer that. This I can say because I have shared this thing with my friends and they too felt the same. Not that everyone was literally conned but that everyone felt cheated in one way or the other. After all, not offering anything that you guarantee is termed as cheating in business. And the thing about online is that all these businessmen can easily escape saying that it wasn’t their fault but in actual terms, it was our fault. We understood then differently than they expect us to! So, communication is just becoming a sole problem while doing online businessI had purchased three polyester boxer shots perfume from this website that is named newchic.com. The item was priced at $28. Dollar 28 is such an attractive deal that anyone would be suspicious about it. But when you get to know that this is a company that’s located in China and that the product is going to come from China, your suspicion gets the reasoning and it fades away. This is what happened to me too. I was suspicious at first, but when I found out that this is from China, I was all okay. And took this reason into consideration about duty and all. And shipping and all. And also Chinese products are always cheap so, that too counts. They are always good at manufacturing. Recently I had even read in the Newspaper about a bridge that China had built. And how cheaply they have built and how they hold world records in building such marvels at the cheapest price. And obviously the difference between dollar and yen is such that it makes you think, that is the reason for the price to go cheap. But I guess this is where I was wrong.I am a regular online shopper. And so when it comes to buying, I know what to buy and what not to. I never have trouble in buying online. Even in finding the right size for myself and selecting it. I am also an expert in buying clothes and selecting the size if need be. Especially when it comes to clothes, I am very particular and I know it very well. My mind is never in the dilemma of whether it will be able to select the right size for the right cloth. I even know that size changes from brand to brand. Not majorly, but it certainly does. In clothing brands, it does. My experience of selecting clothes for myself has also been bad while I was shopping from a website or two but then that’s the difference between a good website and a bad one. And this one, Newchic.com was a bad one. I reckon they stop selling fashion and luxury items and open a grocery store instead.My birthday was a week to go and my husband had asked me if I would like to buy anything for that day. When I mentioned online perfume shopping, he shared with me a voucher that his company had gifted him. Newchich.com it was written. Since I was a regular online shopper, I knew most of the famous online e-commerce that offered fashion shopping. I was firstly amused on seeing this name. But then I thought, maybe it’s because of the advancement in technologies that even small vendors are getting into offering services of online cloth shopping. So I decided not to judge. Turns out that this website was of a company in China and that sold fashion items. So I hardly had any chance to know about it.Even when I made the purchase, I was a little skeptical to receive it or not. But then when I discussed it with my husband, he was positive and so it affected me too. I waited. And to my surprise, I received the product. But the product wasn’t as per the expectations. I realized it after using it for my birthday. People who smelled me weren’t experiencing the fragrance I expected them to. And you get to know it when one smells you and compliments you. Instead of receiving compliments, I received fake compliments and I know it from the person’s face. So I decided to give it back and return. Here comes the final twist. They charge me $9 more than the purchase price as a shipping price. How absurd is that that you pay more for shipping your product than the price at which you’ve purchased it! This is what newchic.com is all about! If they cannot afford free shipping or have to ask their customers to pay more than the MRP for shipping thet better work a way out. Why should the customer suffer? That’s the question that I wish to ask everyone who reads this out?

It is difficult to ascertain whether NewChic is a Scam, or Legit, based on this single review. In the coming weeks/days, I will try to research deeper into NewChic, analyze and list more critical reviews and identify a pattern (or lack of) to substantiate the claim mentioned above.

Regardless, until then, we give the benefit of doubt to the reviewer and list NewChic as someone you need to avoid (for now).
