I came across a critical review of Shelter Mortgage Company on a Scam Reporting website – DirtyScam.com, titled ‘Worst Customer Service’.
DirtyScam allows anonymous submission of complaints from angry consumers and victims of scams. Since the website is hosted offshore (probably in Russia or India), we take this (negative) review against Shelter Mortgage Company with a pinch of salt.

This was a mixed bag of tricks with Shelter Mortgage Company. They did a VERY good job in the speed at which they got our loan thru.What was NOT was their OWN added in requirements to the loan such as requiring you to have two months payments in arrears.This is for Shelter and Shelter alone to make your loan more palatable to the mortgage company they will sell your loan to.This also uses the FHA Loan process for their own designs rather than for the groups that it was intended.Our loan was sold in less than a month. Shelter is part of Guaranty Bank.Guaranty Bank has the absolute worst hands down customer service department of any mortgage company Ive ever dealt with.They are rude and loud and have a canned speech they give you rather than listening to your questions or finding out what your needs may be.Its probably a VERY good thing that the loan was sold rather than having to deal with these folks for any length of time.I would avoid this whole deal.
